Satriano
Satriano, a small town wedged between Davoli and the large territorial extension of Soverato. Famous for its dairy production and excellent dairy products, thanks in part to the rich pastures and abundant waters of the Ancinale River that descends from the Serre, the small town extends more widely inland, historically associated with Cardinale, with which it formed a single feud that had among its feudal lords the Ravaschieri and Filangieri princes. The historic center, perched on a steep hill, sees the Mother Church of Santa Maria di Altavilla with its elegant façade flanked by two bell towers stand out at the top. Interesting mansions rebuilt after the severe earthquake of 1783 bear signs of the great artistic influence of nearby Serra San Bruno. Pietro Drosi, founder of a family of 19th-century sculptors who produced numerous works of sacred art in the region, many of which are the object of great devotion by the people of Calabria, was born in Satriano.
